While we spent a week based in Ystad, Sweden back in April, we decided to visit the city of Malmö.
We've been to Malmö a few times but hadn't really explored the Västra Hamnen neighborhood before. This area, an artificial island that was once an industrial area with docks and shipbuilding, has been revitalised into a modern residential area over the last couple decades.
Here is a collection of images taken on a long, walk from central part of Malmö over to and around Västra Hamnen on a mostly grey, rainy day back in spring.
Have a scroll through and thank you for your visit!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will be back next time.
(Pssst: Did anyone “see” the Øresund Bridge in a couple of the snaps? Perhaps not. There was some thick cloud and mist over the water so we only saw a shadowy form of the bridge that goes from Malmö to Copenhagen. The rainiest, greyest part of our walk placed us in exactly the place we otherwise would’ve had a swell view. A bit of a bummer but also a good reason to return to that neighborhood the next time we are in Malmö.)
I am liking the patterns. The twisted tower is still strange to me. It is like a knitting needle stuck in a bundle of soft wool. It sticks out, and somehow does not belong. Interesting, but ugly. As for the bridge, yup, saw it. It is such fun. When you fly in and you see that it is the bridge to nowhere, when it ends at the little island where the tunnel begins.... Nice walk. Thanks for taking me along!
Gorgeous eye candy, I think my favorite genre. Such diverse architecture there, you captured it perfectly!
