We travelled in Norway once (also a few days around Hardangerfjord) and photographed stave churches as well. Not because I'm religious either but they are simply remarkable buildings 🙂 I remember we also stopped at Heddal stavkirke on the first day of that trip.
Actually, we’ve had quite the dry summer. And spring. And, looking back, fall too. (Except it’s almost guaranteed that the month of November is the dreariest month in the land, even if the clouds never cry…)
Thank you!! Oooo, your trip sounds lovely. Did you happen to go into the town of Balestrand? Some fun old manor houses along the fjord there (with dragons, some of them) and a cute little church — with rounded backside…
Yes! We spent one night at the Balestrand Hotel and in the morning took a short ferry to Vik to see the Hopperstad Stave church. We returned to Balestrand and then took a 5-hour round-trip cruise to Fjærland. Was so lovely to pass the small villages, waterfalls, and glaciers along the way.
Many thanks!! And so glad to know you liked the close look at the crazy-intense colors (esp in the harsh sun) of the houses. I almost didn’t post that one. ☺️
Wonderful photos of such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much!
Another picture perfect series!
Thanks so much! That is so nice to hear!! 🙏🙏
Beautiful images!
Thanks so much!!
What a beautiful landscape to travel around! This is a fabulous set of images, such gorgeous colours but those reflections are spectacular!
Many thanks!! 😃
Jeez awesome reflections!

Thank you!! Your Norwegian trip sounds great. Those other stave churches are pretty fascinating, so unique. Glad you had the chance to visit!
Yes, Norway is still on the list for "revisits". We've only seen a relatively tiny bit back then. But it was most impressive!
Excellent collection. Churches are super. And who says it always rains in Norway? 🥸
Thank you!
Ha!! 😉😉 So true.

But you have had such a great run! Lovely photographs. And even when it rains, it can be beautiful.
Those water reflections are stunning!
Thanks so much!
Lovely images! Ten years ago, I spent a week in Norway and did a beautiful cruise on the Fjærland Fjord. Such spectacular scenery!

Aw, sounds like a very nice adventure.
Beautiful photos that bring back memories of the quiet stillness I experienced on my brief trip. I wish I had had more time in Undredal.
Thank you!! (Our time was brief as well but it was a beautiful day for a short visit. What time of year did you visit?)
We were there the middle of July.
Beautiful photos, KewtieBird, and that tiny stave church is very cute.
Thank you!!!
The music to accompany this is Geirr Tveitt's Vær helsa med æra from Hundre Hardingtonar.
Ha! I looked up the Hundre Hardngtonar and saw the following:

Thanks for the suggestion!!
Every one of these shots is spectacular. The small island with reflection is awesome.
Thank you, I really appreciate your nice comment!!
These are so good! The reflections especially, but I am drawn to that blue in #4.

I’m so glad you did!
I really like the images with the reflection in the water. That seventh photo of the hill and the reflection in the water is amazing.
Thanks! Yeah, that water was soooo still, everything looked so pretty in it.
