Stockholm: PRIDE
Images from a photography enthusiast based in Oslo
We spent a quick weekend in Stockholm this past summer on our way to our next travel destination.
We realized that PRIDE was in full swing and that their parade was scheduled during our stay, which was fortuitous because we had missed our local Oslo PRIDE happenings in July due to travel.
It was a hot and sunny Saturday so we were happy to find a place to watch Scandinavia’s largest PRIDE parade in the shade of an overpass. We ended up hanging out for over 2 hours, it was great fun!
Here are some images taken of the Stockholm PRIDE Parade back in August. Have a scroll through and thank you for stopping by!
Many thanks for your visit! I hope you will be back next time.
(Pssst: I admit that this year, I teared up a few times during the parade. It started with seeing the Swedish military’s float: they were playing the theme from Top Gun when I first saw them, followed by a Robyn song — they sounded really good! For some reason, watching the military there in Sweden, out in full support of loving who you love, made me think of what’s going on back home in the US and the new direction the Administration is steering our armed services and I just lost it for a sec. Then, of course, there were lots of groups showing their support for Ukraine and Palestine, bolstered by cheers and call-and-response chants from us onlookers. There was even a float manned by fellow American Expats. All in all, it was a fun, inclusive, colorful summer day and we were happy to have been able to be there. Did you attend or take part in PRIDE this past summer? Did it make you feel?)

Thanks for sharing Pride in another city (I love Stockholm)!
The year before last, my work friend asked me to join our company's contingent at Milwaukee's Pride parade. We were handing out treats, so while it was kinda fun, I didn't really have a chance to absorb and enjoy things. This year, my friend didn't feel comfortable going, due to the current climate and I don't think the company even sent a group.
