Thanks so much! I also love those crazy eyes. Looking through the lens up close, I was able to appreciate its personality as delivered through those “eyes on a stalk”.
Amazing shots!! Love the creativity and getting the behind the scenes info on each shot and location. I imagine the stories that snail will be telling his friends! :)
Thanks very much! It is definitely a challenge (at least for me) to shoot macro shots, especially of creatures that are continually moving (or flowers or other nature blowing in the wind). It just takes practice but, more than that: patience. And it really means taking a LOT of shots so that at least one will have whatever your target is in focus. I may have posted a lot of images of that snail but I snapped a zillion-gazillion of them and many, many just didn’t have the eyes (or whatever I was aiming at) in focus or had some other problematic issues. Again, thank you for the kind words and I definitely encourage you to continue to shoot macro when the opportunity arises and you have the time. 😃
I think it takes a certain amount of courage to get close with a macro to a jumping spider, and I must say the results were worth it. That snail has a lot of personality - I love it against the car hood, puts it into a magical realm somehow.
Hee hee. Well, for me, if the spider is tiny enough it isn’t courage so much as quick snapping of the camera before the critter scurries away 😁 that is the key. In all seriousness, the occasional huge spiders that come out in our basement never ever have become subject for me — if no one is instantly available, I’ll put a glass over it and wait for my better half to escort it outside. They are just too big for me. The jumping spiders are much smaller than my littlest fingernail so I can make friends with them and try and get a peek at their face and eyes with the macro setup. In any case, I thank you heartily for your kind words and am super happy that you found personality in the snail shots. Much appreciated!
Now I am curious what those huge spiders would look like up close! But totally understand the need to do the glass & paper technique and get it outside...
I am true arachnophobic while at the same time trying to honor and respect these truly fascinating animals.
These macro shots are amazing!
I think it is always incredible to take a closer look at all the details of this beautiful world and these animals you photographed, my favorite being the snail. 🐌 I love snails! :)
I especially love the image of the snail on your car. Such a creative idea!
Thanks so much for your comment and kind words. I appreciate your true fear of spiders and I thank you for getting through those particular images in the post. As for the snail, it was most certainly a charmer and I am happy to know you are a fan of its kind. 😊
Wow, those are amazing photos, I love the snails' eyes particularly

Hee hee, let’s hope the experience was a positive one for the snail. 😉 Thank you for such a nice comment and for your visit.
Black and White moth is the most dramatic photo in this grouping. All are excellent examples of macro shots, lighting and background. Well done!
Thank you very much! 😊
I love your macro shots. I try them occasionally and hope for the best. I need more practice. Your work is inspiring me to continue.

(Let’s just say: you don’t want to know. I’m a spider lover, minus black widows, and it’s too much for me, these Norwegian basement spiders….) 😉

Lovely shots. It doesn't matter how much of the photo is blurry when the eyes are in focus.
Thank you 😁
